Conflicts are bad!!

Ok so yesterday i posted the day befores blog and now im posting yesterdays blog and ill try to do todays tonight, if that makes sense? Anyways, yesterday was a LONG day. Woke up early and had breakfast. It was good stuff :) ahah no not really but w.e. We had a session on conflict resolution right after breaky. We discussed the problems in Northern Ireland and did soem fun activities. I learned alot about myself and the people around me. Me and Eddie had some good roomate examples over conflict. I was telling everyone about a night where Ed wanted to watch a movie and I took a shower and instead of going back to watch the movie, i watched basketball in the lounge. so when i came in the room Ed was a little upset that i said i wanted to go to bed and told me that he would punch me in the face. So i avoided the conflict by going to bed and not saying a word. :D Avoiding is great ;P

In the afternoon we had lunch and then headed to the beach. We did some communication exercises and had some fun. We were heading into town when an Irish storm hit. We saw the rain coming but what we didnt see was the HAIL! They were small but the wind was sideways, everyone just turned their backs or hid behind cars. It lasted for 5 minutes and my backside was dripping soaked, like im talking about gaining about 30lbs of water on the backside of my clothes.

The rest of the walk into town was bad. My jeans were rubbing on the backside of my calves wearing them raw. It sucked, but thank god town didnt. They have a thing here called 99's, its soft serve ice cream in a cone with a stick of chocolate down the middle.... FABULOUS. We sat in town eating our ice cream and then headed back to Corrymeela. We had our night session and we had to do a play. Ours was on Racism and how not to solve the conflict, it was really complicated so im not gonna explain it.

well the day was quite eventfull and after the play i went to bed.

"I don't think were gonna make it"

So today we woke up and headed out of Belfast and to Corrymeela, a center for conflict resolution. The bus ride was hilarious, the driver was the second wittiest person ive ever met. We were aproaching a tunnel and when it was in view for everyone on the bus he blurted out

"o shit i dont think were gonna make it"

and everyone was freeking out, so we got up to the tunnel and he dropped the suspension and started creeping up to the tunnel and yelled over the speaker what sounded like we were scraping, then he started laughing. Everyone was cracking up. He also was quite a joker, he was cracking jokes the whole ride up.

"The Queen of England and Ronald Reagon were riding in a horse drawn carriage doing a PR thing through london. About halfway through the ride the horse farted and there was an awkward silence for about 20 secs and then the Queen said 'I do apoligize' and then Reagon said 'you are the most honest woman ive ever met'" He had everyone laughing.

He also told a story about when he was a child, "So I was walking up to church one day in my sunday's best when we saw two dags (dogs)..... well doin what they do in the middle of the street and everyone was appauled by it. So i turned and asked my mom what they were doing. She gave me a wallup on the back of my head and told me 'It's not your buisness' so i shut up for a minute.... but it just made me more curious so when we got to church I asked my dad 'what were those two dags doing fadda' I swear the man has never told me a lie before and he told me "The dag on the bottom was really sick and the dag on the top was pushing her up the hill to the dactor.'"

The day was awsome we finally got to Corrymeela and this place is great. It feels like we are in the middle of nowhere, which we kind of are, and the feel the place gives you is like a church retreat. All the staff are young and come from everypart of the world and are all dedicated to the mission here of solving conflicts around the world.

We ate dinner and had our first session. We stayed up playing mafia and go-ninja-go for like 3 hours. Im beat now and going to bed.

QOTD (quote of the day) "Let me put it to you this way, when a man gets out of the water, he would be unsure if he was a man or a woman."

Ireland. Here at last.

Ok so over the past 30 something hours I've been traveling with my school on a mission trip to Ireland. What a spring break right? Well anyway I've been dreading going on this trip for a long time and I still wonder why in the world i signed up for it, but thats done and I'm here now.

The flight was..... u guessed it, awful. I was in an aisle row which isn't bad for me cause i have long legs and i could stretch out into the aisle if i wanted, but it happen to be that the flight attendants decided to take the carts up and down the aisle every 10 minutes, so i was very frustrated cause i couldn't get any sleep. O, i forgot to mention, on international flights you are suppose to fly in a bigger plane than you would when u fly domestic but i guess AA decided that it wasn't necessary for us.

After getting off the sardine can we walked about half a mile just to get to passport patrol. After i got stamped i went and found my luggage, which was 48.5lbs when the max is 50lbs. I grabbed it and went to exchange money. For those that don't know the currency exchange sucks. I could feel the money being stolen right out of my wallet when i went to exchange for Euros, just to figure out that we will be in Northern Ireland for the first part of the trip and I need pounds, ridiculous.

So after getting through baggage claim and everything we hopped on our bus from the airport in Dublin to Belfast, 2 hour bus ride, yay more sitting. I was awake when we left the city and saw the amazing green fields of Ireland for the first time they were terrific. I was amazed by how many different shades of green there were. I soon fell asleep and woke up in Belfast. We headed out to get something to eat and everyone went to Burger King's or Kentucky Fried Chicken, but me and a couple friends decided we would try out the Irish Pub food, and to my sweet surprise it wasn't half bad! I had a burger, i know american right, and fries. The burger was excellent, the beef was splendid and the fries were made from the best potatoes on earth so it was a gimme that they were excellent.

After we boogied out of the pub we got back on the bus and did a bit of sightseeing. Some of the architectural geniuses behind building cities like Belfast must be nuts. Tight streets and windy i might add. I felt like we were on a roalercoaster, but on the wrong side of the road. They do drive on the left here which isn't new to me since i was in Australia last year, but you still have this sense that something is very wrong all the time.

We went to a museum after walking and driving around Belfast for a while and let me tell you it was not that great. All the exhibits were either not taken care of or were out of order. There was a huge advertisement for a flight simulator they had and I was excited to try it out, but it happen to be out of order when we got to it.

Once we left the museum we headed straight for the hotel to unpack and get ready for dinner, which is in 40 minutes. So i went to unpack my carry on to find out that i had forgot the converter. Disappointed and depressed I hopped in the shower and went to get into a clean pair of clothes and brush and shave when another disappointing moment occurred, i had forgotten... yep you guessed it... my toothbrush. Thank god i found something that would hold me over till tomorrow when i buy a real toothbrush.

Hope to catch you guys tommorrow I'll try to post an update every day so stay posted

Reasoning behind this blog

The reason I'm starting this blog is just another step (notice the title) to my dream and goal of being a professional journalist. I know that this is a hard course to take and I was told by a journalist who works in Miami that to be a professional to start writing daily now. So here I am just wasting my days away at Culver and I finally decided what i wanted to be.

You'll find this blog humorous and fun. I'll try to post everyday and try to keep whoever reads this updated on whats happening in my life.

So for those who know me I'm a HUGE Miami Dolphin's fans, and yes my ultimate goal would be to write for them or even any other major team in the NFL, but we all know that dreams are hard to come by now a days.

So for those who don't know I'm attending a boarding school in the middle-of-bum-fuck Indiana, aka Culver. It's a military academy, more so for leadership and discipline, not for bad kids or people who are joining the army. So don't come on here thinking and leaving all your liberal bullshit cause i don't want to deal with people like you anyway. I've been attending the Academy for 3 years now and now that my Junior year is coming to an end i decided to try and do something with my life that mattered. I have started to realize the more you buy into a system (could be your job, household, or school) the easier it is going to be. My first two and a half years here i was always rebelling and not doing what i was told, well now this past couple of months I've been trying hard in school and joining clubs and trying to apply myself into areas i normally wouldn't touch. I'm heading up a team for Relay for Life this year, if you don't know what that is it is a non-profit organization that is trying to raise money for cancer. My team goal is $16,000 and I am hoping we will reach it, so if you would like to donate any amount at all i would be so touched by your generosity.

My dad's mom had cancer that claimed her life and I have started a fund in her name so please donate if you have time, remember you don't have to donate that much even $1 would be nice.

OK so i need to stop promoting :-)

Anyway so today was a Monday, and we all know those suck, and my first period class was one i usually look forward too but it seems like it's changed in the last couple of weeks. My teacher has started to assign about 2.5 hours of homework a night, sucks right? Jeez, well I am a junior in high school so i shouldn't complain but the homework came out of nowhere! Like we used to have like 30 minutes a night maybe and now this! Well just gonna have to deal with it i guess :P.

ha ha but other than that life's been fine so i can't complain. I realize we are fortunate to have what we have and we should all Thank God for that.
